Bloomingdale Elementary selected as one of 100 national winners; new books will support more than 400 K–5 students

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) announced that Bloomingdale Elementary School has been selected as one of only 100 schools nationwide to win its annual “Rally to Read 100” sweepstakes. This six‑month literacy initiative inspires students in grades K–5 across the country to discover the joy of reading by challenging them to collectively read 100 books.

As an award recipient, Bloomingdale Elementary received 100 brand‑new, high‑interest books curated to spark curiosity, imagination, and a lifelong love of reading. These books will be added to the school’s classroom libraries and media center, expanding access to engaging, diverse stories for more than 400 students.

The “Rally to Read 100” campaign encourages students, educators, and families to read together throughout the school year, culminating in National Reading Month each March. Participants enjoy themed monthly book lists, virtual read‑alouds from celebrated authors, and hands‑on literacy activities available at RallytoRead.org.

The sweepstakes invited K–5 educators nationwide to nominate their schools for a chance to win 100 new books generously donated by Barnes & Noble. From thousands of entries, Bloomingdale Elementary was selected as one of this year’s winners. With national reading scores showing continued challenges in literacy, expanding access to high‑quality books is more important than ever.
